I like how you've made uses of different scenes within a short span of 30 seconds.

It certainly holds your attention.

I'm not fan of your drawing style but at least the brush strokes are clean and the coloring has minimal gaps.

I would be interested in seeing longer future episodes of Tyler the creator.

I tried to give a detailed review but this movie hasn't given me much to work with.

The movie lacks a polished look and the resulting movie mediocre stick figure battle.

It's an interesting first movie but future stick movies can be a lot more polished.

Stick figure movies can potentially look polished with a few subtle additions to the drawings.

The stick figures are faceless characters and were simply only distinct by color.

Drawing faces on your sticks will give them much needed personality.

You can easily draw extremely expressive faces onto stick figures and will make this movie a bit more distinct.

I've used hand painted backgrounds in one of the dailytoons to help create a more polished look.

Simple additions to the graphics can make a surprising difference on any flash movie.

I created stick figure movies on an alt account and do simple things to make better looking stick movies.

Faces on stick figures make a surprising difference and most people take it for granted until the faces are gone.

If you have a simple to execute idea on ways to make your movie look better than do it.

I look forward to your new stick figure movies.

Make more.

The drawing style provides an interesting interpretation of the combatants.

I would much rather see the unique drawing style of the satirist rather than look at carbon copies of the anime.

I only consider it to be important that the characters are still recognizable.

The art style is entirely open to new interpretation.

Some elements of this movie completely destroys some level of originality out of this parody.

Parody by definition is not original; However, additional creative elements can still create something brand new.

The teenage mutant ninja turtles comic book started out as a parody of dare devil and has expanded into it's own entity.

The drawing style along with the goofy animation added an interesting element of comedy.

The coloring on the characters leaves small gaps that could have been easily fixed.

The brush strokes were a bit sloppy but you will improve with practice over time.

I liked the voice acting in this movie and you should utilize his talents in future movies.

The movie shows a lot of promise but the humor quoting internet memes ruins an otherwise solid movie.

That just saying gag has caused me to cringe.

I'm aware that it is a pun playing on the word saiyan but that joke has been beaten into the ground.

I love the concept of Goku having a petty argument with Vegeta.

That argument escalates into a ridiculous fight scene and you could have mocked the animation flaws of dragonballz.

This parody shows a lot of potential and future episodes will get better.

I look forward to seeing new movies from you.

I love your level of constructive criticism. Normally people either say "this is great", or "this sucks", but with your advice, now I know what I did wrong, and it'll contribute to improvement.

I will agree that it's not very original, and it could've used a bit more originality, but something loose and easy like this is sometimes fun to make.

I know there were some coloring gaps, but I didn't bother to correct them, as I had already duplicated various frames with the oversights, and the process of correcting each of them is tedious; and normally I wouldn't let the tediousness stand in the way of perfectionism, but I figured little to nobody would notice (obviously I was wrong XD)

I will definitely utilize mErZeE's voice talents more often, especially because of his willingness to contribute. (he even asked me if he could help; it was quite nice of him).

And believe it or not, I frankly did believe I came up with the "Just Saiyan" pun, but provided the fact there are well over 7 billion people in the world, there's bound to be several others who have come up with that joke before I did, if not something entirely similar; therefore, it did not come as a surprise that someone else had beaten me to it.

But anyways, nevertheless, thanks for your advice. ;)

Hokuto no ken is an already ridiculous anime with over the top martial arts fighting.

Your usage of micky mouse and a strange looking creature highlights the absurdity of that anime.

The main protagonist; Ken shiro can literally make his enemies explode into a gory mess using his own two hands.

Most of the combatants in that show have an extremely destructive force in their hands.

The crazy fight scenes along with blood are the main attractions of fight of the north star.

The more violent elements of hokuto ken have been toned down in the anime adaptation.

A lot of things about Hokuto no ken is perfectly ripe for the ridicule of parody.

I would be interested in seeing more of your Hokuto no ken themed movies.

You've taken the everyday occurrence of two men in the gym reaching for the same free weights and took the event into absurd direction.

You've taken advantage of the animation medium and created impossible situations to go along with an everyday mundane experience.

I don't know why animation is treated as a second class citizen.

Cartoons have the strength to create an entirely brand new reality in ways that live action never could.

It takes a lot of work to just make a bad cartoon since each drawing is a single frame in a movie.

Shortcuts are sometimes used for creating animation but the process takes way effort than live action.

I like how the two strong men became extremely competitive against each other because they were reaching for the same free weights.

I would like more time to get to know more of the personalities of the strong men.

Character development can be improved upon by making the movie a bit longer.

This animated short while based on a gag of two men fighting over free weights has shown a lot of unexpected potential.

I really enjoyed the execution of this cartoon.

I found the concept of a hotdog searching the internet for weiners to be an extremely absurd premise for a movie.

I like the art style used for this movie and the drawings were decent.

This movie was a very entertaining short gag.

I look forward to more episodes of weinerman.

hdweinerman responds:

Thanks! Absurdity was definitely what i was going for. I appriciate your feedback.

I didn't find the movie to be very funny at all.

If a comedy can't be funny than it has to at least be entertaining.

Sometimes humor falls flat and a back up plan is necessary.

I can tolerate not laughing during a comedy but I can't tolerate boredom.

I like your movie's concept of using the idea session conversation as the movie itself.

That kinda conversation always happens during the early draft stages of creating any sort of collaborative project.

Normally that kinda conversation is the first stage of creating a movie.

That very same conversation has allowed your imagination to run wild and has inspired an animation based on mental images.

The idea session as a movie is entertaining idea with lots of comedy potential.

All the ideas in the draft stage are used including the worst ideas that would otherwise be struck down.

I have awarded you some points for just that entertaining concept alone.

I have subtracted points for originality since the audio originated from a video game commentary show.

these short cartoons based on video game commentary shows such as; "Game Grumps" are common.

You could have recorded a conversation between your friends cracking jokes and animated those metal images instead.

I love the concept of animating metal images inspired by audio stimuli despite a lack of originality.

Better luck on your future movies because this current movie only registered as average to me.

Has a rare quality to it.

The music was very beautiful and along with your crude drawings it helped create a sense of atmosphere and time passing by before my eyes.

The point here is that we don't pay attention to whats going on around us and are in a closed box such as sitting in front of your computer screen for example.

Life passes by before your eyes and if you don't pay attention.

You'll miss it.

This piece of work is very intelligent and forces you to think of your own conclusions yet the presentation is simple.

There is more than meets the eye here and not many casual viewers are gonna understand this at all.
They just want instant instant gratification such as something that only exists to look cool.

For the future i would recommend using a preloader you created yourself and present it like just another frame in your movie.

Artists and non artists alike do this with preloaders for there work because it is interesting every time without fail.

No need to do any kind of complex loader just program a simple loader that gets the job done because after all every little thing you do is part of your artistic statement.

The more things you create yourself for your movie the more integrity it carries.

I'm not saying create your own music just create what your capable of making for your creations.

I like this a lot and i only ever seen this sense of atmosphere disguised as a bad movie within jetninjin's best work.

You have a rare gift.

Don't waste it by just giving up because the picky 14 year olds have no appreciation for art.

I look forward to seeing more from you in the future.

nal1200 responds:

Thanks for the great feedback, I look forward to experimenting more, especially with the preloader idea!

Your good but need to be a better showman

While those traditional animation exercises on this site aren't too common you can still make something even less common and make an even bigger impact on your audience.

You have some substance there already to your work but you can make your work a little more flashy to stand out above everyone else.

Thats not to say that you should make your movie purely just pretty graphics because that would be hallow and would only serve to entertain graphic whores.

It's important to make your work entertaining in and of itself since even with it's imperfections and than polish it up when it comes time to.

When your happy with your movie than that means your done and ready to show your work to everyone warts and all.

There is no tangible way for me to explain how to make something entertaining since what might entertain me might bore someone else to tears but you can still do things to make your work different from what everyone else is doing.

Coloring in your drawings will make you stand out from all the other people on this site that do traditional animation here because i notice most of the colored in animation in your short collection of animation exercises were done in flash rather than on paper.

I'm not saying piss away all your money on cels and make backgrounds but you can still ink in your drawings than color them in with markers, water color or coloring pencils.

Than you can than transfer your colored in art work to photoshop and erase any part where you didn't draw anything in and combine it with maybe a background you did to go with your drawing.

The background is just something extra to look at but it must not compete for your characters attention instead backgrounds are used to make you pay attention even more.

Your on a positive step so far. you took a year off to learn before you showed anything off.

-Mightydein

this has the most plot out of all the bitey movies

I'm a little surprised on how long this movie this is. your other movies are so much shorter.

theres a whole lot more going than i would expected so you do show some signs of vast improvement from your previous work in aspects such as plot, drawings and animation.

you have also made an improvements on making sure your movie plays how it's supposed to on as many computers as possible.

it ran smoothly on my computer for the most part and i'm getting low on ram while there was choppiness in some parts. you can't be blamed for that since it was my machines fault.

and as i recall this is your longest movie yet and also most graphic intensive. you should maybe offer a tutorial on optimization just because this movie is actually more than worth the 12 megs of movie.

I've long outgrown being a graphic whore and i've judge your latest movie all on criteria what i consider makes up a good flash.

you've become a better entertainer and this what always comes first. I find your past works focused on graphics and design more.

and even if you nearly killed yourself making this movie i somehow get the sense that you were having fun as your making it.

Thats something you rarely see in any overly ambitious projects at all since you basically force yourself to work too hard for a finished project that few people will appreciate beyond it's nice looking drawings.

none of this felt forced to me at all and i will admit that I'm jealous of your skills like so many of the artists.

keep up the good work but your movie is still somewhat lacking in storyline but at least your making improvements.

Great review! Agreed on the points of story. Thanks :D

I created cartoons for newgrounds since 2003 and collaborated with artists such as livecorpse, Billy Monks and others.
I'm also known as PowerRangerYELLOW on my alt account.
I hope to make more cartoons soon.
